biggest weekend congress in Britain. You are almost certain to meet new opposition in this great event with over 300 players from all over theUK, and beyond.
As usual we will be in The Ocean Room, but with the added benefit of better lighting, organised by the Spa Centre
for our event.
We have listened to you, the players, and have increased the prizes on offer, putting in grading prizes and junior
prizes in each section. We have decided not to make the Open FIDE rated as the Open players voted against this by quite a large majority.
Please bring your friends this year and lets make Scarborough as big as Blackpool!! I promise that any extra income
will go straight into the prize fund or to make the congress more comfortable for all. We don’t need to tell most of you what a great venue Scarborough is and we hope you enjoy the great accommodation, restaurants, cafés and pubs as well as the parks and tourist attractions.
Any suggestions to improve things further are gratefully received. Scarborough International Chess Congress is a non-profit making organisation and will remain so while we run it.
